Great beer made with the best water in Australia
With its origins on Cradle Mountain, just over an hour’s drive away, it was no surprise for craft brewer Willie Simpson to find that the water he uses was recently recognized as the best-tasting tap water in Australia. Located in the heart of the Cradle to Coast Tasting Trail, Seven Sheds brewery is also in a rich agricultural region producing everything you need for a multi-course gourmet meal… and a range of beers that draw inspiration from local produce, local history and a blend of artisanal and more experimental modern brewing methods. As well as traditional English and Belgian ale styles brewed with fine Tasmanian malts and hops, Willie produces beer with ingredients as diverse as oatmeal, foraged pepperberries, raspberries, quinoa, sour cherries and peated malt. Visitors will find Seven Sheds brewery up a laneway a block back from the main street in topiary-themed Railton. A purpose-built cellar door sits beside the brew-house, offering undercover picnic tables and outdoor seating beside hop trellises. Tasting paddles, beer by the glass and take-away bottles are available from 11am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday from September to May, with an earlier closing time during June and July.
