If Tasmania didn’t get it’s name ‘The Apple Isle’ from Spreyton, it definitely had to be a factor. Spreyton Cider Co is centrally located within the Tasting Trail and gives you a taste of their own working orchards.
Growing Apples for over 100yrs
Spreyton Cider Co.
You’ll find the Cidery in a big blue shed built amongst many apple tree varieties and old farm homesteads. Along the North face of the Cidery you’ll step foot into a relaxed, rustic space with a permanent food van. On warm summer days the windows are wide open letting in all that Tassie sun or cosy and heated up by the wood fire heater through winter.
The Spreyton Cider Co family have been growing their apples and pears for over one hundred years. In that time they’ve learnt a thing or two about growing tasty fruit but more importantly they know their way around a good cider. Looking through the factory viewing windows next to the bar, the whole process comes to life, grown and bottled all on site. Spreyton Cider has a few flavours to choose from so grab a tasting paddle and give them a try. Have a chat to the Cidermaker Damien to learn about their contemporary ciders, their traditional range and the latest addition, Ginger Beer (there is plenty of non-alcoholic options available too).
In summer, you may catch some afternoon music, see some cricket on the lawns or even the orchards in bloom. Whatever your style, with a fresh Spreyton Cider Co drink in hand, all is well!
